Frequently Asked Questions About One-on-One Coaching
How did you get started in this work?
I was living a "glamorous" life in Boston working my buns off in TV production AND producing Boston's Fourth of July on the Esplanade Event (the whole event, not just the TV part!) each year. On paper my life looked great. The truth? I felt absolutely numb -- chewed up, burnt out, totally spent. So, I hired a coach to help me create the life I wanted to be living first, and then create work that fit into that life. Quite a change from what I'd always done before: create the work and then try to squeeze some life in around the edges. My coach helped me make the transition into my first "retirement". I loved the journey so much I knew that I wanted to guide other women on their journeys. I signed up for Coach U, signed on my first four clients, fell in love with my life and my work, and the rest is history!

Who exactly are your clients?
I work with self-reliant, 50-60 something women who want to (or have to) continue working in the stage of life formerly known as "retirement".
My clients have wisdom, skills, experience, energy, and want the freedom to live life on their own terms. They often are having trouble taking the leap out of their current work life and into the freedom they so desire.
They want to finally do work that is a creative expression of who they
are, work that touches their spirit, ignites their passion, and leaves
them feeling fully alive.

How are you different from other “retirement coaches"
or "encore career coaches”?
First, my ONLY focus is helping 50 to 60-something women create their ideal encore careers within the context of their ideal encore lives . You'll find many "retirement" and "career coaches" spread themselves thin by also doing executive coaching, couples coaching, teen coaching, etc.
While, like many "retirement coaches" I have received certification through Retirement Options after their 6 week training program, in contrast I am also a graduate of Coach U's three year training program and am a Professional Certified Coach through the Internation Coach Federation.
Finally, I'm the ONLY coach currently helping 50 to 60-something women create their ideal encore careers exclusively, and I've been doing it for nearly nine years.

Who is the program best for and what is expected of me?
My program is best for the woman who's looking for more than just another job. She wants work
that fits who she is and what she loves to do -- work that's a meaningful expression of what she has to
offer the world. It might be starting a successful business, becoming a
best-selling author, joining the Peace Corps, being a life
coach and trainer like me, or you fill in the blank.
So, if you're:
- Eager to retire the part(s) of your life that no longer fit (including your work), and reinvent them...
- Looking for a guide who clearly sees who you are, who you're
capable of becoming, and all the amazing options that are open to
you...
- Ready to have someone listen to your ideas and ask questions
that push you into a higher level of thinking and acting...
- Willing to be accountable for what you say you'll do to get
where you want to go...
Then, you're a good candidate for my 1:1 coaching!
I expect you to be open and willing to learn new skills, let go of old ways of
doing things, face your fears about aging and change, and explore all options and opportunities.
return to top
Who is this program NOT for?
My 1:1 Coaching is not
for everyone. As one of my clients so perfectly says, "This work is not
for sissies." If you're not prepared to learn new skills, let go of old ways of
doing things, face your fears about aging and change, and explore all options and opportunities, don't even think about working with me. Our work together will demand
flying in the face of what society says about how you "should" live this
next stage of life. It will compel you to revolutionize your life.

What exactly is your 1:1 coaching program and what does it include?
My 1:1 coaching program is:
- Designed especially for you, a successful,
self-reliant, 50-60 something woman who wants more – much
more—out of the rest of your life. A lot of programs out there try
(unsuccessfully) to address the needs of the entire Boomer
population of 78 million incredibly diverse kinds of people.
- Made up of proven, practical steps that will take
you from where you are now to where you want to go, by figuring out
what would bring you the most fulfillment, satisfaction, joy and
meaning.
- Created out of my own experience, so you can avoid the
costly and painful mistakes I made in my own transition.
- Truly a journey of discovery, where it is all about YOU…and
it's customized to who you are, who you want to be, what you
now want out of life.
- A tool box filled with everything you'll need to
navigate not only this transition, but all the change that's headed
your way for the rest of your life.
- An holistic approach that includes every aspect of
your life, not just the "work" part.
- An energizing, enlivening, soul-enriching experience.
With my coaching , I'll help you:
- Build a strong foundation of WHO you are
- Embark on a journey of discovery of WHAT you want to do
- Design a blueprint for HOW you’ll get there
- Follow your blueprint step-by-step to LIFE YOUR WAY

What do I get for my investment?
I'll be frank -- you get absolutely nothing if you don't do the work. If
you're not ready to roll up your sleeves and get down and dirty, please
don't waste your time (or mine) trying to move forward in your life with encore career coaching.
However, if you want an encore career coach (who's made the successful transition herself) by your side
mentoring you every step of the way, giving you sound info about which resources to use, what plan to follow, which strategy is most effective,
and what potholes and pitfalls to avoid, this is what you get for your
investment.
The primary benefit of what you're getting with your investment with 1:1
private coaching is learning in 6 months what it took me four
years of living through and five years of coaching others to discover.

What results can I expect?
Will I guarantee your results? No, I'd be foolish to do that. Your results depend on how much work you choose to do and how well you do
your homework.
I also won't lie to you. I wish I could promise you that it was easy and
would happen instantly with just a little bit of effort. Like any
life transition, this isn't easy, nor does it happen overnight. If it were,
you wouldn't need me. :-)
However, if you dig in, do the work, and get over your own self-doubts
and out of your own way, you can create an amazing encore career, and you'll experience results like:
- A renewed sense of energy.
- Looking forward to getting out of bed every morning, excited about what the day will bring.
- A stronger personal foundation.
- More authentic living.
- Bigger thinking.
- Bolder action.
- A clearer vision for future.
- A greater sense of self.
- More self-confidence.
- Less stress.
- Less fear.
- More joy.
- And, a life lived fully.

How quickly can I expect results?
As soon as our first session. It really depends upon your willingness
to step forward and do the work required to build a strong foundation for
your life as you go for your goals.

Does this really work?
Yes! I'll let my clients speak for themselves below with their Rave
Reviews.

How will we work together, and what does the coaching entail?
If you are accepted as one of my clients, you and I will meet 3 times a
month for 30 minutes each. You will receive additional support from me
via unlimited email volley between sessions, as
well as short 5-10 minute personal calls for support or
brainstorming as you need it.
I ask that you complete a Session Prep Form prior to each session to let me know what you've
accomplished each week, as well as to tell me about your stumbling
blocks and on what topic(s) you want to focus on during our next 1:1 coaching
session. This way we can hit the road running, and not waste our time together bringing me up to speed.
At the end of each call, I'll ask you to commit to certain
homework assignments that are designed during the call, tailored
specifically and uniquely to your situation.
I have found that having my continuous and focused support will keep you
accountable and assist you in reaching your goals faster than you
ever would on your own. Plus, it's a LOT more fun!
return to top
How long would I stay in 1:1 coaching?
To get started, I require a minimum commitment of three months. I feel
it takes that long for us to build a trust, focus and momentum, and
really get into the flow of our coaching relationship. Many clients end
up staying on average 6 months to a year depending on the size of the
gap between where they are now and where they
want to be.
rreturn to top
What is my investment in 1:1 coaching?
It's $497 per month effective 1/1/10. If you're accepted for coaching to begin in January, I'll honor the 2009 fee of $400 per month for as long as we work together.
return to top
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes, that is the only type of payment I accept for 1:1 coaching. MasterCard, Visa, and American Express.
return to top
I'm ready to go. How do we get started?
Simply complete the Coaching Application form found here, and we’ll set

I’ll answer any questions you may have at that time.

I’m not sure I’m ready to get started, how can I sample your work to see
if it’s right for me?

"I was a blank canvas and
Lin helped me create the portrait of the next phase of my life."
I was looking to expand and broaden my life outside of
the typical retirement that everyone visualizes. I knew that I
would need to have an income of some sort to supplement my
savings, and I wanted to avoid falling into similar "jobs" that
I always had. But coming up with my new business,
WittzEnd.com, was a struggle that I had with myself.
I am
continuing to expand my comfort zone in so many ways, and I
am finding that I am successful at something and have to work
harder to succeed at other things. But the important thing is
that Lin was someone that I did not know and she could listen
to me and talk with me with out any preconceived ideas. I
was a blank canvas and she helped me create the portrait of
the next phase of my life, find the confidence that I had lost
and find the joy that I had lost somewhere along the way.

the roller coaster ride of my life!"

Initially, I thought Lin could help me shape my new coaching
business. Little did I know I was going to embark on the
roller coaster ride of my life -- starting my business AND
moving to another state.
Lin's encouragement kept me moving
forward even when I wanted to hide under a rock (a very BIG
rock!) Lin was always there to help me through the scariest of
times, and she always made me feel special-- one of my
biggest fans. I don't know what I would have done without her!
